Chiropodist

Werkman, Boven & Associates is seeking a Registered Chiropodist/Podiatrist to join our dynamic team of healthcare professionals. As a Chiropodist at our clinic, you will have the opportunity to work alongside multiple experienced practitioners, clinical assistants, and administrative support staff. This position offers a flexible schedule, making it ideal for practitioners seeking a permanent role. Qualifications:

  • Perform full scope of practice according to the College of Chiropodists of Ontario.
  • Conduct comprehensive chiropody services to identify foot conditions and abnormalities, including foot assessments and diagnoses.
  • Provide treatment and management plans for various foot conditions, including corns, calluses, ingrown toenails, fungal infections, diabetic foot care, wound management and foot deformities.
  • Deliver exceptional patient care and contribute to the clinic’s success. This includes treating scheduled patients, enhancing retention, and effectively communicating management plans.

Requirements

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Chiropodists of Ontario
  • Current Professional Liability Insurance in keeping with the College’s Standards
  • Trained in nail surgeries, custom foot orthotics, stockings, footwear and bracing.
  • Able to work independently in a private clinical setting
  • Ethical and compassionate focus on patient care
  • Strong knowledge of foot anatomy, biomechanics, and common foot conditions.

Chiropody Intern

A Chiropody Intern assists with patient assessments, treatments, and foot care education under the supervision of licensed professionals. This role offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and growth opportunities in a clinical setting.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Keep the treatment rooms prepped and assist with the flow of clients.
  • Clean, disinfect and sterilization of equipment.
  • Collaborate with and refer to other healthcare professionals if required.
  • Provide direct medical services to patients (specifically by assisting in biomechanical assessment).
  • Complete accurate documentation concerning client condition (such as data taking of biomechanical exam and chart patient encounters for Chiropodist).
  • Educate clients and clients’ families to achieve and maintain optimal foot health by assisting with the intake process and following up with patients after procedures and assessments.
  • As ordered by a chiropodist, provide direct medical services to patients, such as Lunula Laser therapy for dermatological infections and magnetic and light therapy to decrease pain and inflammation.
  • Function as a collaborative member of the clinical department team, which consists of Chiropodists and Administrative staff, to provide quality customer-focused service.
  • Work with allied health to provide a team-based treatment approach.
  • Consistently demonstrate knowledge and expertise in professional practice, letter writing and charting.
  • Prepare the treatment room and handling of clean and sterilize the equipment.
  • Commitment to meet or exceed the needs of all patients and educate the client and the family members to achieve and maintain optimal foot health.
  • Demonstrated strong communicator; listen for clarity and meaning, speak in an honest and straightforward manner to ensure mutual understanding in a conversation.
  • Complete charting with accurate documentation concerning client condition.
  • Treat each patient or family member with understanding, respect and kindness.

Qualifications:

  • Studying within a recognized diploma in Chiropody or a related field of study or recent graduate
  • Knowledge in assisting in providing foot care
  • Customer service experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential for medical reports and educational and promotional activities
  • Proven organizational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to effectively interact within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Sound problem-solving skills
  • Flexible to meet changing department/service needs
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position

Foot Care Nurse

An Advanced & Diabetic Foot Care Nurse provides specialized foot care, including assessments, treatments, and wound care for patients with foot-related conditions. This role requires clinical expertise, patient education, and compassionate care in a healthcare setting.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assess and treat foot conditions. Treatment consists of patient education (both individual and group), foot and nail care, compression stockings and provision of foot care products and orthopedic/comfort footwear.
  • Function as a collaborative member of the department team, which consists of Chiropodists, Registered Practical Nurses, Support and Administrative staff, to provide quality customer-focused service.
  • Consistently demonstrate knowledge and expertise in professional practice.
  • Prepare the treatment room and clean, disinfect and sterilize the equipment.
  • Commitment to meet or exceed the needs of all patients and educate the client and the family members to achieve and maintain optimal foot health.
  • Demonstrated strong communicator; listen for clarity and meaning, speak in an honest and straightforward manner to ensure mutual understanding in a conversation, and complete accurate documentation concerning the client’s condition
  • Treat each patient or family member with understanding, respect and kindness.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Practical Nursing diploma
  • Current registration with and member in good standing of the College of Nursing of Ontario
  • Knowledge in providing foot care
  • Completed basic and advanced foot care management certification from an accredited college.
  • Customer service experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential for medical reports and educational and promotional activities
  • Proven organizational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to effectively interact within a multi-disciplinary team

Chiropody Assistant

A Chiropody Assistant supports chiropodists with patient care, including preparing treatment areas, assisting during procedures, and managing clinical tasks. This role requires attention to detail, organization, multi-tasking abilities, and patient interaction skills.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Keep the treatment rooms prepped and assist with the flow of clients.
  • Clean, disinfect and sterilization of equipment.
  • Collaborate with and refer to other healthcare professionals if required.
  • Provide direct medical services to patients (specifically by assisting in biomechanical assessment)
  • Complete accurate documentation concerning client condition (such as data taking photos of patient’s feet and chart patient encounters for Chiropodist)
  • Educate clients and clients’ families to achieve and maintain optimal foot health by assisting with the intake process and following up with patients after procedures and assessments.
  • Provide, as ordered by a chiropodist, direct medical services to patients, such as Lunula Laser therapy for dermatological infections.
  • Function as a collaborative member of the clinical department team, which consists of Chiropodists and Office staff, to provide a quality client-driven service. Work with allied health to provide a team-based treatment approach.
  • Prepare the treatment room and handle cleaning and sterilizing the equipment.
  • Commitment to meet or exceed the needs of all patients and educate the client and the family members to achieve and maintain optimal foot health.
  • Demonstrated strong communicator; listen for clarity and meaning, speak in an honest and straightforward manner to ensure mutual understanding in a conversation.
  • Complete charting with accurate documentation.
  • Treat each patient or family member with understanding, respect, and kindness.
