Routine Foot Care

did you know?

The foot is an intricate structure containing 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 ligaments and 19 muscles. The 52 bones in your feet make up about one-quarter of all the bones in your body.

What can I do?

Healthy feet are an essential part of overall good health. Taking a few simple steps will help you maintain healthy feet for a lifetime.

  • Regular check-ups from your Chiropodist
  • Wash your feet daily
  • Keep your feet moisturized, avoiding between the toes
  • Trim your toenails straight across
  • Choose appropriate footwear for your activities
  • Make sure your footwear fits in both length and width and feels comfortable
  • Vary your shoes’ heel heights
  • Replace footwear that no longer supports your feet
  • Exercising regularly to control weight, improve circulation and muscle tone
  • Do regular calf stretches
  • Check your feet regularly for possible problems
  • Ensure your socks are well-fitting
What should I expect at my first visit?

During your first appointment with us, we’ll ask you lifestyle and other medical questions that will help us get to know you, your feet and understand your current concerns and needs. Your feet will be in caring hands. You can download our Patient Information Form.

Initial foot care exams can include:

  • Comprehensive foot, nail, skin and ankle exam where our Chiropodists will assess a range of motion, gait analysis, circulation, sensation, and colour and map any lesions.
  • Multiple photos are taken of your feet to track any changes in your condition
  • Diabetic foot screening
  • Presentation and discussion of treatment options (including possible immediate treatment)
Routine Foot Care Appointments

After your first visit, your Chiropodist may recommend routine foot care appointments. These appointments can include:

  • Cutting and thinning down toenails
  • Debriding (removing) corn or callus
  • Monitoring of existing moles and warts

If you are experiencing any foot-related issues, please contact us today to book an initial foot care assessment or routine foot care appointment. We are committed to exceptional foot care for all ages.
